DESERT COURTYARD

A single-story courtyard house organized as three low white-plaster bars around a shaded central patio. Deep portals and thick walls do the environmental work: the plan buffers itself from the western sun, and every room opens to protected outdoor space. Materials are kept to a short list of integral-color plaster, honed concrete, and rift oak, with a decomposed granite garden of native cactus and desert planting.
